Fibromas are the skin growths, which are actually benign tumors of the connective tissue. They look like some small nodes and their size could vary from around 1 millimeter to up to 1 centimeter. They usually are the same color like the skin, but they could also be slightly lighter.
They are not dangerous for the health, but their number might increase and they could become an aesthetic problem. Fibromas usually appear on the neck, the crutches, the armpits, under the breasts, the eyelidsandthe stomach.
Still, they also appear on the other parts of the skin. Actually, almost every person has at least one fibroma, which means they are not rare.
Fibromas might also get inflamed, they could start bleeding or get bigger. Their number and size increases gradually as time passes. Even though the reasons for their appearance are not known yet, the fat deposits contribute to their appearance.
The number of fibromas can vary from a few to several hundreds. A doctor may diagnose a fibroma and a dermatologist will prescribe any further treatment.
Fibromas areusually being removed during the winter, when the weather is colder, there is less sun and the sweating is reduced.
The fibroma is removed by a dermatologist by laser surgery, radiosurgery orelectrocoagulation. Only one treatment is needed, unless there are more fibromas. In that case, the treatment has to be repeated.
After the removal of the fibroma, the wound is treated with antibiotic, usually high hygiene and showers for 5 days. For several daysafter the surgery, sweating and hard physical exercises have to be avoided in order for the healing to be successful and to avoid complications.
